Old Vipers really are a bear to drive. They had huge transmission tunnels that pushed your legs at a weird angle to the pedals while also having a really heavy clutch and tons of toque with no safety nets. The combination makes for a really tiring experience in slippery conditions.

Story time. The owner of a company I worked for out of high school had one that he let his father drive one day. He pulled out in front of traffic including a fully loaded log truck and needed to accelerate quick. Burning out through first gear, he then went to smash the clutch and shift into second but smashed the brake instead and locked the tires up. Needless to say, locking the brakes up in front of a log truck is not the best idea. Fortunately he figured it out before really fast and was able to let out the brake with enough speed to roll start instantly and get moving again in first, then get into second with the truck a few lengths off his bumper... but not all shorts were clean after that one. The Viper was traded in not long after for a Ferrari, which was also traded out in a relatively short amount of time for similar issues and maintenance cost.
